LASH TINTING/EXTENSIONS OVERVIEW
Eyelash tinting involves the use of dyes to darken or tint the eyelash. Blue black is the most common colour used as it gives the darkest effect. A patch test is always conducted 24 hours before the dye. After that, if you stay with the same practitioner, no further testing is required.
Eyelash extensions have become very popular in recent years and various new products have appeared on the market. The process involves individual lashes being adhered to the eyelid rim. It is often the case that a strip of eyelash extension is applied.
WHAT TO EXPECT WITH LASH TINTING/EXTENSIONS
The pre-test as described above for the eyelash tinting. An application and pads placed on the eyes for about 10 -20 minutes for the dye to settle. A slight sting is possible post treatment but this should abate within a few hours.
Eyelash extensions require the client to lie back at a tilt and the practitioner to apply the lashes/strip to the upper eye lid.
The amount of time the last can vary significantly: extensions should last between 2 to 4 weeks if cared for assiduously.
BENEFITS OF LASH TINTING/EXTENSIONS
Longer looking lashes with more depth of colour. Mascara may be dispensed with.
Late onset allergy, redness or a sense of discomfort from a foreign body being so close to the eye.
You need to be careful with the lashes to avoid them falling out. This means not letting the shower directly on your eye area; not using mascara; and not rubbing your eyes!
