CO2 lasers are targeted lasers that can resurface the skin. Fraxel Active and Fraxel FX are proprietary versions of CO2 lasers treatments of skin rejuvenation treatments that includes traditional treatment. CO2 lasers go deeper in a more precise manner than traditional lasers. Wrinkles, discolouration and vascular disruptions are addressed while the skin is tightened and collagen production stimulated. As CO2 lasers are very precise there is less damage to the surrounding skin than with traditional laser treatments.
WHAT TO EXPECT
A consultation and skin assessment. Expectations are addressed this is not a face lift and will not lift the facial muscles.
Depending on the size of the area being treated a local or general anaesthetic may be used. A practitioner sections the face and aims the laser at each area in sequence.
It can remove sun damage scarring, fine lines and moderate wrinkles. It is precise and reaches further in to the skin than traditional lasers. Only one treatment per areas is needed.
The down time for a CO2 laser is twice that of a traditional laser; 2 weeks compared with 1 week. The skin will be red, sore with a sunburnt feel to it. It does not lift the face as in a face lift. It is an expensive treatment.
