BODY WRAPS OVERVIEW
Common ingredients such as green tea, turmeric and witch hazel are often used in a weight loss wrap. Weight loss wraps involve bandages being saturated and wrapped round the body. Clingfilm may be wrapped on top of this to prevent any moisture loss. The purpose of the treatment is to reduce body mass by stimulating water release. These wraps are often marketed as detoxifying as they induce sweating.
WHAT TO EXPECT
In a spa the process of a wrap usually begins with an exfoliation of the body often using a scrub. The exfoliated body is then pasted in the formula and then wrapped in the impregnated bandages. A further layer of Clingfilm may be used. A heat source may take the form of an electric blanket or heated plinth. The client is left to relax while the process takes effect. Often after an hour the wrap is removed and the client told not to shower but to leave the formula on the body for as long as possible.
BENEFITS OF BODY WRAPS
The skin is preternaturally smooth after the treatment. There is often some reduction in circumference due to water loss.
Allergic reactions may occur particularly is a lot of ingredients are in the wrap. The process can be uncomfortable with a sensation o got and cold often being felt throughout.
