Adapted from the botulinum toxin type-A of Dysport, Azzalure is specifically designed to relax the muscles and improve the appearance of moderate to severe glabellar lines (vertical lines between the eyebrows).
Both Azzalure and Dysport drugs contain protein called botulinum toxin, which is produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. In large doses the protein can cause botulism, a rare and sever form of food poisoning. However, in small doses, injected into the face, it simply blocks a chemical that tells the muscles to contract. When the face is stopped from frowning, the wrinkles caused by these expressions are effectively ironed out.
WHAT TO EXPECT WITH AZZALURE
Injections into the face. These are short, quick injections, and should be only mildly painful. It is a very quick - in and out in 30 minutes - procedure. However you should have a good chat with your practitioner first, for you both to clarify the look you are trying to achieve and the likely outcome.
It should be used by trained members of the medical profession only. You may experience very slight redness in the injection zone which should fade within hours of the treatment.
