4 Tips To A Healthier You!
We are all about living your best life here at Best Ever Me, and seeing as it’s Health & Fitness Week, today we’ll be sharing 4 top tips to become a healthier you!
It can be very easy to put minding yourself on the back burner, especially when you have a family to take care of and/or a busy work life. Quite often we prioritise these things as well as others, over taking care of ourselves. However, in order to be the best and most productive version of you, you need to ensure that you’re doing things that will benefit your health.
Tip #1: Start Your Day With A Hot Cup Of Lemon Water
This is a very simple step you can take that really helps with digestion. I have come to swear by it and always try to ensure I have a cup every morning, regardless of my schedule. Not only is the lemon juice beneficial, the temperature of the water also plays a big role. Drinking any water, especially warm water, first thing in the morning really helps to flush our your system and re-hydrate the body.
Tip #2: Sweat It Out
Find some time for yourself each week to get a workout in, but most importantly, find what works for you. If you hate the idea of going for a run for example, look into an option that you would find more enjoyable. There are so many wonderful classes on offer and great online resources like YouTube that enable us to get a rigorous workout completed in the comfort of our own home. Whether it be boxing, spinning or yoga, choose an option that you enjoy and make it part of your routine! Aim for 3-4 times per week.
If you're tight for time, why not try High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)? These short, intense workouts really get you to break a sweat and take very little time out of your day. I personally love to follow Joe Wicks 'The Body Coach' on YouTube. You can try out one of his beginner workouts here!
Tip #3: Get In Your Greens!
One of the most beneficial things that you can have is a green smoothie. It may not seem like the most appetising drink in the world, but it can actually be pretty enjoyable, and is a much better alternative to juices and minerals because it holds the fibre of the food. There are a variety of recipes online but my favourite is this:
- Handful of spinach
- 1/2 of an Apple
- 1 Carrot
- 1/4 of a Cucumber
- 1/2 of a Lemon
- 1 Banana
- Add water to the consistency that you like
Tip #4: Drink More Water
This may sound like an obvious one, but it’s highly likely that you’re not drinking as much water as you should. The Institute of Medicine (IOM) currently recommends that men should drink at least 104 ounces of water per day, which is 13 cups and women, 72 ounces, which is 9 cups. Quite often, we eat when we think we’re hungry but in fact we’re actually thirsty, so do your best to stay hydrated. Not only does it aid in weight-loss, it affects your overall mood and also leads to a great complexion.
To make life easier, keep a bottle of water on you at all times, or keep a glass of water by your desk. You'll find yourself sipping on it in no time!
